Heat stopped at the glass, before it ever reaches the room behind it — the strongest solar control that exists for a hard west-facing ridge elevation.
Interior blinds manage heat that has already made it into the room. External venetians intercept most of it outside, at the glass. On a ridge stand with a big western elevation, the indoor temperature difference is dramatic — it's how architects shade serious glass on view-first homes.
Wide aluminium slats, in the 60–90mm class, run in guided side rails or cables — tilt and raise, just like an interior venetian, but built to live outside. They're effectively always motorised, with a wind sensor that auto-retracts the blind before a Highveld gust or storm can damage it. Finishes are powder-coated and engineered for weather exposure.
Ridge and view homes with hard west or north exposure are exactly the case this product was built for — anywhere the aircon can't keep up with the glass. Retrofits are possible on suitable elevations, though a facade assessment and, ideally, design-stage planning gets the cleanest result.
External venetians are a west-wall specialist's job, and we've assessed and fitted them on exposed elevations in Blackheath, Fairland, Weltevredenpark and Windsor as well as on the Northcliff ridge itself.
